Mind control!  Parasitic flies and leafcutter ants.

Here’s the bottom line, ants are smarter in teams, so are humans. Make your search more enjoyable and effective by calling on friends with positive energy and encouragement or hiring a coach. Even ants who focus solely on the task of carrying leaves, without asking for help, risk losing their minds. No, I’m not kidding. It’s a fascinating story. Check out the video.

Very funny as well as insightful.

I like the way the grass bits dance about as the ants travel, & also the idea embedded toward the end of your narrative about the smaller insects that fight off the parasites; in other words, not only should we think about people who try to take over our minds, but those who are looking out for us.

Thanks for weighing in, Megan. The soldier ants carrying the grasses somehow communicate to the smaller ants “ahhh! hop on, there’s a fly!” So true! The grass bits do look like they are dancing. The ants actually walk without specific “lanes” if you will to keep the grass moving. Yep! Helps keep the flies away. Stay in touch! Melissa

Melissa Thanks for this cool video. We have been indoctrinated with the heroic tale of independence when the real tale is co-operation. Loved to see it played out in such a graphic way.

You are right on, Sandy. In fact, the Twitter environment becomes representative of the cooperation of ants. Meaning, no one person (or ant) has all the information; it is the sharing and movements of each that advance all of us. Love having your blog, too. M
